The annual Islamic conference in Ottawa-GatineauI.LEAD 2020

Important I.LEAD Anouncement

Assalamu Alaykum,

The I.LEAD team would like to officially announce the status of the upcoming I.LEAD conference that was initially scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, 2020. In light of the circumstances surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the conference has been postponed until further notice for the health and safety of our guests, speakers, volunteers, and the wider Canadian community.

As I.LEAD is a large scale community conference, we are acting proactively to follow the recommendations of health advisory boards to prevent further risk of exposure of the virus.

We appreciate the trust our guests place in us and will be issuing a full refund for all tickets. For online tickets, you will receive your refund in your account within the next 3 weeks.

If you bought the physical tickets, please contact the organization you purchased from for the refund. For further inquiries you can email us at

We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this situation and look forward to your ongoing support in the future. We plan to return even stronger with a more exciting program insha'Allah! Until then, may Allah protect our communities and keep us united in this challenging time.

With regards,
The I.LEAD team

Our Theme for 2020

The theme for this year's I.LEAD conference is 2020 Vision: Lighting the Path to Clarity. With one decade firmly behind us and a new one beginning, we must plant the seeds for growth to become our best selves. In 2020 we must have clarity for our ideal future. We must believe that we can achieve our goals, we must strive for success, and we must put our plans into actions.

Rewriting our personal stories can be daunting, but when we have the right tools we are setting ourselves up for success. With the right tools, the next ten years can be yours for the taking. Elevate yourself to levels you have never achieved before. Illuminate your path to success with I.LEAD's 8th annual conference.

I.LEADx Returns this Year on March 8

iLEADx is a new and innovative idea! It’s a conference for the youth by the youth, similar in style to TED, PLUS a talent show – all in one! It's in the form of a competition for the best speaker and best talent, with very valuable prizes. It will take place 2 weeks before the main I.LEAD conference. Applicants, who are local youth between 17 and 25 years old, can choose to speak or perform, all in one competition stream!

What Does ILEAD Stand For?

The aim of the conference is to engage, empower and support the Muslim community to work together and actively participate in building a vibrant community and a greater Canada while maintaining a Muslim Identity. The ILEAD conference was created and is run by the United Muslim Organizations of Ottawa - Gatineau (UMO-OG). It is an initiative that acts as a coordinating group for the 12 prominent Islamic organizations in the National Capital Region.

While each member organization is operated independently, the UMO facilitates important collaboration in areas such as education, social services, charitable works, public relations and large community events such as the ILEAD conference. ILEAD stands for Islam, Learn, Engage, Achieve, and Develop.
